Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Last updated September 30, 2026
Knight Law Group, LLP, doing business as Online Addiction Lawyer, publishes this website. This policy explains what we collect through it, why, and what you can do about it. Health-related information is also covered by our Consumer Health Data Policy, which gives you additional rights.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Your name, phone number, email address and state
- Your preferred language
- Who the review is for, and that person’s approximate age when heavy social media use began
- Which platforms were involved
- The type of harm experienced, and whether a doctor, therapist or counselor diagnosed or treated it
- Anything else you choose to tell us in a call or email
Some of this is information about a person’s physical or mental health. We treat it as sensitive and we limit who can see it.
Information collected automatically
Our web host records standard server log data, including IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request. This is used to keep the site running and secure.
2. How we use it
- To evaluate whether we may be able to help your family
- To contact you about your inquiry by email and, if you consent to calls and text messages, by phone or SMS for follow-up and appointments
- To check for conflicts of interest, which we are professionally required to do
- To provide legal services if we are engaged
- To keep records the State Bar and applicable law require us to keep
- To protect the security and integrity of the site
We do not use what you tell us to build advertising profiles, and we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to your inquiry.
3. When we share it
- Service providers that help us host the website, store inquiries, automate follow-up, and deliver communications may process the information necessary to provide those services. Our SMS program is limited to inquiry follow-up and appointments; SMS providers process the contact information and messages needed for that purpose.
- Knight Law Group will initially evaluate your inquiry. If it considers a referral to another law firm appropriate, it will first request your authorization to share information, identifying the firm that will receive it and the purpose of sharing. Submitting the form does not by itself constitute an agreement for legal representation.
- Courts and opposing parties, where the conduct of a matter we handle for you requires it.
- When the law requires it, such as a valid subpoena or court order, subject to any privilege that applies.
4. We do not sell your information
We do not sell personal information or consumer health data, or use inquiry information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Necessary service providers may process information to support our services. Sharing with another law firm for a possible referral requires the specific authorization described above.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use Plausible, a cookie-free analytics service, to measure website visits, traffic sources and overall use. We do not send form fields, answers, contact details or inquiry identifiers to Plausible. Measurement may include source, medium, campaign and content labels supplied in links. These labels should describe public campaigns and must not contain personal or sensitive information; technical filters cannot guarantee detection of information third parties add to them. We do not use analytics to build advertising profiles.
We do not place advertising or social media pixels on pages where you describe a child’s health. If we ever add analytics that use cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.
6. How long we keep it
We will retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to evaluate the inquiry, manage follow-up, and comply with the firm’s legal and professional obligations. When it is no longer needed, it will be deleted or anonymized, unless there is a legal reason to retain it.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to inquiry information is limited to authorized personnel and service providers who need it to perform the functions described in this policy. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, which is why we ask you not to send medical records, images or credentials through this site.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to limit the use of sensitive information. California residents have these rights under the CCPA. Residents of other states have similar rights under their own laws.
To exercise any right, email privacy@onlineaddictionlawyer.com or call (424) 239-1054. We will not treat you differently for asking. Some information must be retained where a professional or legal obligation requires it, and we will tell you if that applies.
9. Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 18. A parent or legal guardian may give us information about a child in connection with a possible claim. If you believe a child has submitted information to us directly, contact us and we will delete it.
